Controversy over President Milei's Cryptocurrency Promotion

Senator Martín Lousteau questions President Milei's ethics after his endorsement of private cryptocurrency ventures. He suggests potential involvement in a scam and calls for an investigation.

Controversy over President Milei's Cryptocurrency Promotion

Senator Martín Lousteau, president of the Civic Radical Union (UCR), expressed his concern about the president's actions in promoting cryptocurrencies. Lousteau pointed out that President Javier Milei's recommendation in this area raises serious ethical and public doubts. In his statements, Lousteau mentioned: "But let’s suppose he acted in good faith, something I wouldn’t have done because a president recommending something private contradicts public ethics and he cannot do that."

The legislator from Buenos Aires city also questioned the President's participation in this matter, indicating that his endorsement was fundamental for the situation to develop. Lousteau stated that discussions are already taking place in Congress regarding the possibility of establishing an Investigative Commission or initiating political proceedings in this regard. In his words, the senator added: "If the President hadn't endorsed it, this wouldn’t have existed and therefore he is either part of the scam or a necessary participant, which is a significant conflict of interest."

Lousteau emphasized that the President was somehow involved in the alleged scam related to the cryptocurrencies promoted by Milei. According to his words, "He knows who did it, who from his circle suggested it." The senator also mentioned that without the President's involvement, the event would not have taken place, which makes him a necessary part of the situation. Lousteau stressed: "So he was somehow involved; whether out of negligence, stupidity, or being economically motivated."

In the context of this controversy, Lousteau referred to the previous corruption scandal involving José López and mentioned that this time they might have taken "twelve bags of López." The senator urged for a thorough investigation into the situation to clarify what happened. Highlighting the importance of following the leads in this case, Lousteau concluded: "It is very important to pull the thread to see what comes out."
